Gentle Yoga & Meditation Autumn Practices
Autumn is my favourite season. Here in the Huon Valley in southern Tasmania, we really notice the shift from summer to autumn. The mornings are crisp and cool, the late afternoon light is rich and golden and the leaves in the fruit orchards turn stunning colours of reds, golds & yellows. We get extra rainbows, and from the yoga cabin in our little Geeveston valley, we watch the morning mist float along the Kermandie River.
Perfect practices for this time help us to cultivate a sense of balanced, calm focus. This is a great time to be using balancing, focusing practices like this one:
Autumn is a good time to reflect on: what is it time to let go of? What do I most want to focus on for my well-being?
Like the deciduous trees, we're storing energy for the winter rest, so that we can flourish in spring.
Here’s a nourishing guided deep rest (Yoga Nidra) practice recorded live at our Gentle Practices for Natural Calm community Zoom session on the eve of the autumn equinox:
As the abundant, flourishing energy of summer transitions into the mellow reflectiveness of autumn, in our practice it's time to let go of what we no longer need, to simplify and focus on what what's most important in cultivating our well-being.
It’s a great time to have a check-in with our well-being and notice where we need more nurturing, rest or nourishment. Try this 12 minute meditation to explore this:
I hope you enjoy these autumn practices.
