How to de-stress, sleep better & feel more at ease with yoga without using will-power.
We know that a yoga or meditation practice can help us de-stress, sleep better, feel better in our bodies & even help our relationships.
So why do so many of us struggle with a regular practice? We end up blaming our lack of willpower or "discipline" (ugh, I hate that word!).
But have we made it really easy for ourselves?
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits has written about how important environment is in shaping our habits, saying “Motivation is overvalued. Environment often matters more”.
It's so helpful to think about how you can get your environment to help you rather than hinder you…
Have you got a space where you can drop onto a rug to enjoy some mindful movement or releasing poses, without having to move things around?
If you're wanting to bring some peace into busy family life, is there a time of day and a physical space, maybe just after school or work, where you & the kids could put your feet up and do a couple of minutes of shared breath practice, and join it to a chat about your day?
How about having a pre-chosen 5 minute meditation recording all ready to go on your phone for you between work and the journey home, with a scheduled reminder so that it's so easy, you don't even have to think about it?
Most people I know are mentally tired right now, and when you're tired, you're not going to magically practice anything without being kind to yourself by setting up the conditions to make it easy first.
What would help you to incorporate something nurturing into your week?
